JOU 220 Canceled
Hey all:
I’m slowly dying under the covers here, and it just doesn’t make good sense for me to come in tonight.
If you have proficiency tests and your pitches, please turn them in to my office. I am located in ST 373. Please do not use the Landrum office, as I rarely check that mailbox.
If you have questions, I am sitting here by my computer. IM is the best - but I have my SMS working again thanks to some technological shenanigans I pulled. You can call, but I likely won’t answer as my throat feels like it’s gonna explode…and not in the good way.
Office Hours Canceled
Hey all:
I’m buried under the covers, and won’t be in for my office hours today. I have a wicked sore throat and a bit of a fever.
I am, however, online today. My phone is acting a bit hinkey — so IM or email may be best.
Adrift Instructions
Hey all:
Here are the instructions for the Adrift Generator. You should start looking these over. Please off-click this link and Save Target As. This will put the file on your desktop.
We are going to go over this in great detail next Tuesday.
You are going to have your stories in some working order by the end of this week. We will then go over the instructions together. If you are good with them, you can skip this session. If not, then you can come in next week.
Last Test for You
Hey all:
Your last test is now posted in the JOU 220 proficiency test section.
Interviewing
Once you have passed all the tests and have your final pitches approved…well, you’re set to start reporting and writing.
I will tell you this. As you report, I want you to keep a log of your activities as they relate to the proficiency exams and your field work (what worked, what didn’t). At the end of these five stories, you will turn in an analysis of your work.
Last Two Exams
Okay, here are you last two written exams:
- Writing
- Interviewing
The last two exams will be a Garageband test - and file converting test. We will go over this in class this week. You will do the recordings, convert them to MP3s and label them correctly. Once you do that, assuming you have passed the rest of the exams and have your final pitches approved…well, you’re set to start reporting and writing.
2 More Tests for You
I posted two more tests in the EMB proficiency exams in the PAGE section of your class. Good night and good luck.
- Newsworthiness
- The Finding Test
Add Me to Facebook
Hey all:
Along with posting events and such here on the site, I oftentimes use Facebook for NKU specific events that aren’t necessarily related to class. I’ve gone through the class rosters and the note cards and added those of you I could find.
If you didn’t get added — but want to be — my Facebook profile is listed in the left column of the site, near the bottom.
That is all.
More ECT News Writing
Looks like I got the gig, which means y’all are going to be reading all types of odd technology stories. And, for my journalism students, just so you know — some days you have to write 3 stories in one day.
