The Future of Journalism - A Talk By Me

Hey guys:

I’ll be giving a one-hour talk about the future of media to the NKY and Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists, as well as local television stations. It’ s not required — but if you’re interested in a career in the media, it might be worth an evening.

Did I mention we have free food?

Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists
New Media: Journalism 2010
Tuesday, February 19
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Northern Kentucky University, Landrum 110

An overview of the new technologies that are coming down the pike (mobile networking, collaborative filtering for syndication, new navigation and new outlets such as Second Life). A description of what the modern newsroom needs to look like to accommodate the web (positions for programmers, designers, ect and the skills they need, content flow within the newsroom and why journalists shouldn’t learn these new skills). An overview of how new social technologies and integrated news departments create new business models.

MIN Movie Night

The MIN kids get together once a month (give or take) for a night of movies and generally relaxation and introductions. We use this time for kids to get to know each other – and have a little fun. Unfortunately, they got tired of my anime nights – so we’ve gone general. Well, nerdy general.

We’re having a Science Fiction/Double Feature (name that movie): TRON and The Wizard – bonus points to any one who can tell me what is the relationship is for these movies in terms of MIN?

Anyway – all are welcome. Here’s the particulars:

Who: Anyone
What: MIN Movie Night
