JOU: Saving Your Stories
Hey all:
Please save your first story in this format:
- lastname.bus/event/meeting.draft1
You will then get an edit from me which saved like this:
- lastname.biz.draft1.bk
You will then turn in a second draft that is saved like this:
- lastname.biz.draft2
You will then get an edit from me that is saved like this:
- lastname.biz.draft2.bk
Your final draft will be turned in AS A HARD COPY, FINAL DRAFT ON TOP (That’s the one I’m grading) with the edits below that, your original copy below that and your pitch on the bottom.
I grade the top copy — so if you mess it up, I’ll be grading an unfinished product and there is no changing your grade at that point. If you have questions, ask before you turn something in.
Why do I do that? Because if you’re a journalist and send an incomplete product on to the edit desk and something happens, you could end up publishing the wrong work. You need to be aware of what you are doing.
