jou 220: snow day syllabus update

Hey y’all:

I moved a bunch of stuff back. Here is the new breakdown (so you can post questions here for everyone to see)…and I’m uploading the updated syllabus in 5 minutes. You can download it around midnight.

Week 4 (Feb 3-5)
Tues:

• read Chapter 15 (Interviewing Principles and Practices)
• discussion on constructing interview questions
• in-class question writing/interviews/introductions
• DUE: Research and Sources Proficiency Exams due
• DUE: In-Class Research Assignment Due

Thur:

• Read Chapter 12 (Making Sound Observations)
• read Chapter 23 (Business Reporting)
• discussion on how to cover business stories
• DUE: Interview Proficiency Exam due

Week 5 (Feb 10-12)
Tues:

• in-class reviews of all concepts in class
• students discuss their pitch and story questions
• DUE: Business Pitch due in email (lastname.bizpitch.doc) on Tuesday, Feb. 10 before class; bring a hard copy to class too

Thur:

• finish discussion by students of their pitch and story questions
• DUE: Final Business Pitch on Thursday, Feb. 12; Business Story draft in email (lastname.biz.doc) on Friday, Feb. 13 at noon
