Hey y’all:

I’ve returned ALL the drafts I’ve received so if you don’t have them, please ASK me now :) Sorry for the delay but I tried to go through everything + give you very detailed notes on what you need to do. Hopefully this will help you with the editing process.

If you have questions, please let me know. And I await  your next edits.

Hey y’all:

If you haven’t been following what’s going on Twitter, I suggest you check out the #min186 Twitter Group. There is an interesting challenge afoot from a cluetrain author.

Viva la Social Media.

That is all.

Hey y’all:

The sign-up form is here on the Wiki.

Make sure you read the instructions AND make sure you are prepared on Monday, March 2. If you are called upon and are not ready — even if you are scheduled for Wednesday — you will receive a ZERO. If you are not in class during project week, you will see that reflected in YOUR project grade.

That is all.

Hey y’all:

When you do your assignment, remember that you are looking for information that was divulged in the story which – to you – brings up an ethical question (you’ll see the list of ethical questions in the SPJ Code of Ethics).

This isn’t about finding a point that you disagree (e.g. “they shouldn’t write about Planned Parenthood” – because PP exists and medical procedures happen there); instead, you would be looking for information such as the name of people who go into those clinics – should they be revealed if a reporter is standing outside the clinic? Have we made the private public?

We are looking for facts like that which you think raise an ethical issue or dilemma.

Here are some links about the issues we discussed today in class:

Hey y’all:

Here are your critique groups for the rest of the semester. I’ll expect all your critiques to come from there. IF you fail to bring your draft to class, I will exempt your group from critiquing your work and you will lose ONE letter grade on your final paper.

So…

Hey y’all:

I’ve gone through all your projects now. I’ve created a new page on the Wiki – Technology Notes for Your Projects – with technological solutions for some of your problems. I suggest looking through this page.

Feel free to add sections or specific applications that you run across.

Hey y’all:

If you turned in your work late or turned in a draft of something you’d like me to look at, I’ll be grading tomorrow in the evening. Please look for returns then.
