Today’s lesson is this: is Roy McAvoy a success or a failure?

Hey y’all:
You were supposed to share with your groups. I am taking a look at them, but not editing them for you.
We’re going to see how well you do on your own (but we have weeks to revise and finish).
Hey y’all:
Here’s some of the papers that have gone under in the last few months, at least in terms of their paper products:
- Ann Arbor News
- Seattle Post-Intelligencer (reference to Rocky Mountain News + potential closing of SF Chronicle and Tuscon Citizen)
- USA Today’s story on mass closings
This, of course, isn’t catastrophic. The only people really concerned about this are journalists. But new media storytellers will be fine. The future isn’t print. It’s not television. It’s not radio.
It’s storytelling. It’s distribution. It’s conversation.
That’s why these social technologies are so important.
If y’all think that I’m tough on you in class, wait until you venture into the real world. Here is HourVille.com, a start-up that allows hour-based service providers to offer their services, facing a panel of VCs + media types.
They did a super job. While they didn’t win, I really thought they did a wonderful job.
Hey y’all:
As per the discussion before break, I am out of town this week at South by Southwest Interactive. There is no class.
For MIN 186, students can arrange time with TA Nick Klein.
EMB 265 + JOU 220: There is no class, but your assignments are due as discussed in class.
I am back this coming Monday.

jou 220: exam working groups
Hey y’all:
Here are your informal working groups for the rest of the semester. Please sit next to each other during the exam so you can lean on each other for style questions + such. Do not abuse the privledge as those around you may stop answering if you ask a question every 5 minutes
