Hello Students:

I’m finishing up the presentation grades now (they will be posted within the hour) and I’m halfway through your papers (so far, so good).

Some thoughts for you:

  • Materials: group 2 + 5 did an excellent job with their written materials; good 4 did a good job. Please, however, make sure that you are citing your work.
  • Presentations: remember that you will want to present and not simply read your work + if you “wing it”, which means you go away from your written materials, you will receive a failing grade as a group. Unlike previous failures, which result in a “59″, this will be a zero (per the syllabus and rubrics for your group work).

I am not expecting full-on ninja presentations; however, I am expecting a professionally done, logically reasoned presentation. I have cut some slack on this first go-round. Please do not assume this will happen a second time.

Hello Students:

As promised, here is a look at the changes in the syllabus. I will also add this to the BSU section of the site.

Hello Students:

Since 19 of you posted on the No Papers Wiki, I’ll obviously be moving some things around. I will work on that tomorrow and post the schedule for the last 4 — FOUR — weeks.

For those who want to see their grades, I would remind you to check Blackboard, which is where I keep everything logged.

Questions: drop a line or set up an appointment.

Have a safe weekend and don’t get arrested.

Hello Students:

My print time is closed for the day. I don’t have materials from Groups 4 + 6. I assume you will have them ready for the class.

Groups 1, 2, 3 + 5: your materials are printed and ready to go.

Hello Students:

Please remember that there is a substantial point penalty within the class grading structure for those who do not attend PIR lectures.

Here is the most current list that I have:

Hello Students:

Since we’ve covered much of what is in this chapter, I decided to allow you to run the class. Here is the outline for how this will happen.

Hello Students:

I thought you might find this piece interesting.

Hello Students:

I spoke with my friend Alan, the Chief Creative Officer with The Digital Innovations Group, about some of your projects. I’ll include some of my notes, but know that the conversation lasted a good 20 minutes AND he suggested that he wanted to see the final projects (and he’s going to give you feedback on what he thinks after the class is over).

Understand his thoughts are those of a media professional (which means at times he cuts to the chase):

Hello Students (+ Kyle, don’t freak out):

I’ll have the grades for your first two story drafts and idea packets finished tomorrow. (I have just finished typing up critiques for each of your second stories). You will receive both of those back on Tuesday.

We will also do a 30-45 minute refresher course on some of the aspects of writing as there are simply too many “newspaper” stories.

We have 2 more classes before Fruesday (don’t get me started on this) so I want to make sure that you have several pages of edits from me on all your pieces.

Hello Students:

Here’s a 6 1/2 minute piece recorded by Michael Adamson of Turner Sports after my presentation about the distributed story stream.
