Hello Students:

Every year, organizations evaluate life in higher education. This year’s Horizon Report looks at technology and higher ed. I thought you might find some of this interesting.

Hello Students:

At long last, your groups are now up on the Wiki. You do not have to provide your contact information. I simply added those fields to give you a place to aggregate your information.

Hello Students:

I’ve added a section to the LECTURES page, which includes a series of video tutorials for using a variety of social media tools. If you get lost, just go there an you’ll see them broken up as nicely as I can make them.

Hello Students:

For those of you who are interested, I’ve added a training video — TweetDeck + Twitter Together — which explains how you can use Twitter as a research tool to find sources and to tap into the collective conversation on the Web.

I’ll be covering this in my Social Media class; however, I won’t go into details in Media Ethics of Magazine Writing (obviously). However, these tools are quite beneficial for tracking down information.

Hello Students:

Just a reminder that your first paper will be due next week. The outline for the paper is in the LECTURE section. (We covered it in class today).

As you write your papers, you will be asked to begin defining your particular Foundation. The foundation, as we will discuss, is the framework for how you approach your ethical reasoning. We’ll cover that on Tuesday, BUT you should have the reading done before.

You know that you need to research other definitions of the foundation that most closely aligns with your beliefs. As you do that, please make sure to write you definitions in the FOUNDATIONS section of the Wiki.

Why, you ask.

Hello Students:

I won’t be teaching Twitter in all my classes (although I have mentioned it). If you would like, I’ll make a short video that shows you how Twitter + TweetDeck work. Let me know.

Hello Students:

I’ve finished your working groups for this semester. You can visit them on the Wiki.

Please don’t feel you must include your contact information. It’s simply a way, if you chose, to centralize your contact information.

Hello Students:

I have taken the form you filled out and created working groups. I’ve made sure that you have at least one person in your group who has each skill that we’ll be using. This doesn’t mean you’ll have an easy go, of course. But it means there is someone in your immediate group who can help you.

Start with your group (and the # on Twitter), but know that you can search anywhere (and ask me.

Your groups are here.
